Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. (Library books don’t count, but eBooks & audiobooks do). Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists!
Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia at The Printed Page, who graciously hosted it for a long, long time, before turning it into a touring meme (details here). Rose City Reader is hosting this month.
I have a wealth of new books, and I didn't have to spend a dime...this time!
First up, I received a review copy of book 1 in Barbara Cornthwaite's George Knightley, Esquire series. It's entitled Charity Envieth Not, and it will be my first venture into Emma-inspired fiction. I am a big fan of both Mr. Knightley and the Crownhill Writers, of which Barbara is part. Promises to be a real treat, and I hope to have a review posted by end of February.
I also won a copy of Madame Tussaud, by Michelle Moran on Goodreads.com. I really enjoyed Moran's Mistress of Rome that I read last year, and this "novel of the French Revolution" promises to be every bit as good. Can't wait to read it.
I received a review copy of Jane's Fame: How Jane Austen Conquered the World by Claire Harmon. I did review it already here, but I will be doing a giveaway of this book shortly. I loved it--thought it well-researched and chock full of fascinating factoids.
The fourth review copy that I received is Cathleen Schine's The Three Weissmans of Westport, which is a modern take on Austen's Sense and Sensibility. I really like updated versions of Austen's stories, though I am pretty burned out on P&P, I admit. This promises to be fun. A perfect airplane read, and I have a trip coming up the first of February. Will also be doing a giveaway of this book sometime soon.
All four look good!
