My daughter and son are participating in a charity walk this Saturday to benefit Longmont (Colorado) Humane Society. This year the walk has been renamed Ella's Walk, in memory of Meredith Hope Emerson, a Longmont resident who was tragically killed in January 2008 while hiking with her dog in Georgia.
Meredith was a compassionate and caring person who wanted to make a difference in the world. Her kindness for all living things will be honored by this community event. Her dog Ella, a 2 year old black lab, now lives with Meredith's parents here in Longmont and has become the symbol of our efforts to raise money to help rescue animals like her, animals who deserve a second chance.
The Ella's Walk for Animals featuring the Furry Friends Festival is a family-friendly fun event celebrating the bond between owners and their pets. It is also an important fundraising event for the homeless animals sheltered by Longmont Humane Society.
