Robin Hood...BBC style...courtesy of NetFlix

This wonderful anachronistic-laden romp definitely comes under the category of playing, but in the words of the inimitable Sheriff of Nottingham in episode 10 of season 1, "all work and no play is what peasants do." It's time for this peasant to revolt a bit, I suppose.

With regards to the mini-series, Robin Hood, I love the tongue-in-cheek style, the puns and thoroughly modern references that pepper the script, the location titles shot like arrows across the screen, Marian's funky wardrobe that looks like she bought half of it at Macy's and the other half at Ye Olde Renaissance Faire, the wonderful merry men (especially Much), the black-toe-nail-painting Sheriff of N., and, most of all, the wonderful Sir Guy of Gisbourne. Of course, it doesn't hurt that John Thornton (er, Richard Armitage) plays him to perfection--villainy never looked so good :)

I only started watching this recently, so I'm a good season or so behind the rest of the world, but what a treat!
