L.M. Montgomery Reading Challenge

Since I already am planning to continue reading beyond the Anne-books by L.M. Montgomery, the 5th annual L.M. Montgomery Reading Challenge, hosted by Reading to Know, seemed like a good challenge for me...especially since a copy of Jane of Lantern Hill is on its way to my house and I have committed to reading it this year.

I would also like to reread Chronicles of Avonlea and Further Chronicles of Avonlea, and perhaps Rilla of Ingleside as part of my WWI 100th anniversary reading.  I know a lot of people are fans of Rilla but I didn't care for it the one time I read it forever ago and I'd like to give it another chance.

I read The Blue Castle in 2013, and enjoyed it very much.  In a nutshell, it struck me as a story about an Anne-type of person who didn't have the good fortune to be adopted by Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert.

I have been longing to visit PEI all of my life, and I think I'm honing in on a trip to this wonderful island in 2015, so this challenge will be one way to prep for that trip.

  1. Thanks for the heads up on the code. Checking that out.

I also am hoping for a second trip to PEI in 2015. I don't know if it will happen, but I DO hope it all the same. What fun it would be to get to go! I hope you make it.

Glad you are participating in the challenge! It's fun to have you along. :)

  3. I wish I would have read "Anne" when I was a young girl - I think I would have loved the books then but sadly I didn't as an adult. I may have to give Montgomery another chance, tho!

  4. The Blue Castle is one of my favorite books, but I never really got into Montgomery's other books. Sounds like a fun challenge, though. And a trip to PEI sounds wonderful. I wish I could go. Sigh...maybe in another life when I have more money.

  5. I haven't read anything but the Anne books, but I do have The Blue Castle (still) on the TBR stacks. I'll look forward to learning more about her books.

  6. PEI must be such a nice place to visit. Such places often do make great settings for literature.

  7. Oh, I do hope you get to PEI next year. It's one of my favourite places in the world. And there are so many L.M. Montgomery-related sites to visit. I live next door, in Nova Scotia, and I visit as often as I can. Beautiful beaches, great seafood, and a chance to visit the places that inspired one of my favourite writers. Happy reading, and happy travelling!
