And of course even his "least good" book is better than most of what's out there today.

Thanks for this post.Shelleyhttp://dustbowlpoetry.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15714418.post-29071234434473900122012-05-11T21:05:51.343-06:002012-05-11T21:05:51.343-06:00I just chose this for the July read for one of my ...I just chose this for the July read for one of my library book groups! I love Steinbeck and this is a nice short one with lots of copies available. I hope it goes over well with the group members. I'll have to come back and reread your review afterward and see if we agree.Karen K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13483190930383406559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15714418.post-70938251473947454062012-05-09T09:24:20.010-06:002012-05-09T09:24:20.010-06:00I've only read Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men...I've only read Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. It never occurred to me to group Steinbeck with Zola! I'm hoping to reread The Winter of Our Discontent before too long. Really loved that book in high school, but I'm sure it would mean a lot more now. If I remember correctly, it might even make a case for Steinbeck and naturalism .JoAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13691864361197071517noreply@blogger.com
